Religious Education

We are

a secular, non-denominational school. We regard the study of the various world religions as an important feature of a well-balanced and broad curriculum. We believe it is essential to look in a wholly unbiased way at the many world faiths and we always teach our children to respect and appreciate different nationalities and cultures.

Tolerance, respect and understanding

are fundamental to our religious teaching. Each term we study one of the six major world religions: Christianity, Buddhism, Sikhism, Judaism, Islam and Hinduism.

All children have

a voice and are encouraged to share their ideas and beliefs. They reflect on ideas of right and wrong and consider a range of human experiences and feelings. As the child progresses through our school, emphasis changes from a personal response to considering more complex questions of faith. Asking questions and thinking critically are actively promoted. During lessons we also provide times for personal reflection and response.
